Tribute to William James Oliver Jordan, 1941 - 2026

Dear Henry and Sally (if I may), I am saddened to hear of Bill's passing, and I would like to offer my deepest condolences to you all. Thank you for your post on BIEN's website. I am an ex-activist and a researcher in Japan. Bill and Jean kindly hosted me at their lovely place for three weeks in 2002. Bill introduced me to his old friends in the Claimants Unions movement in Newton Abbot. Bill drove with me to many places, and on one occasion brought me to one of his children's place in Wells. I'm sorry — it was a long time ago and my memory might not be correct. Bill and Jean's hospitality made me decide to come to the UK for a longer term. When I became a research associate in Cambridge, Bill and Jean visited me, and a photo was taken in November 2004. The encounter with Bill was decisive for me, and I will never forget him.
